Besides composing, Yu Hng is also passionate about bringing music education to the wider community. He taught piano and music theory from 2016 - 2017 before pursuing further studies at King's College London. Recently he was also awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) teaching diploma, obtained concurrently with his Master's degree at the Academy. During the 2020 coronavirus outbreak, he co-founded the Modular Collective, which provided volunteer music resources for music students whose education was interrupted during the pandemic, such as a series of composer-performer seminars between conservatoire students of three countries: the Sibelius Academy (Finland), Yong Siew Toh Conservatory (Singapore) and King's College London (UK), to teach student composers idiomatic instrumental writing.
